Artist Statement

My current series scrutinizes landscapes, both urban and natural, focusing on human intrusion and transformation. Any landscape has a certain drama created by weather, time of day and topography. Depicting how people degrade or improve the environment is key in my work.

About The Process

Oil paint works best for the layering and reworking that I do to capture the light and vibrant colors of outside environments. The initial concept is often created by combining a series of photographs and drawings; but most of the painting is done en plein air.

About The Artist

Carole grew up in Southern California with a family tradition of musical excellence, playing piano by age 5 but her primary interest was always visual arts.   An avid international traveller, she lived in many US cities as well as London, England; always seeking out art museums and galleries. After a lifetime of supporting the arts, continuous studies in art and  a twenty year banking career she decided to pursue her passion in visual arts on a traditional academic level by enrolling  at Laguna College of Art + Design.

Carole divides her time between downtown Los Angeles, Laguna Beach and Queenstown New Zealand: perfect locations for developing and executing her latest body of work–interpretation of the complex often contradictory rural and urban landscapes.
